Diane Kruger to play The Seeker

EXCLUSIVE: Diane Kruger is negotiating to star alongside Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons and Jake Abel in The Host, the Andrew Niccol-directed adaptation of the Stephenie Meyer science fiction novel. The film takes place at a time when a parasitic alien species called The Souls has just about wiped out the human population. The Inglourious Basterds star will play The Seeker, who is charged with overseeing the conversion of a young rebel soldier (Ronan) whose consciousness has been infiltrated by Wanderer, a soul that has taken control of bodies and minds but who is daunted by the young human’s spirit — and obsessed with the memories of her boyfriend and her brother — and sets out to track them down. The Seeker pursues her, knowing that the conversion of the rebel will lead to the discovery and eradication of the rebel movement.

Casting Suggestion: Mila Kunis as the Seeker/Lacey
The Seeker looked like all the other souls: a silver, worm like creature. In Lacey’s body, she was petite, with dark hair and dark eyes, and was always dressed in black. She was, unlike other souls, very violent and angry. The result of not having been able to expel her host’s spirit caused her to behave like a human. She didn’t have any remorse what so ever at having killed Wes and was also willing to eliminate all of the human rebels.  She was also very stubborn, not giving up her hunt even when the other Seekers had given up. Her greatest fear was to die.

my ideal cast for THE HOST by itstrueimlying

So they’re making a movie, YES
Ian Somerhalder is rumored to be playing Ian, YES
But they have no one else listed. So that’s what I’m doing today.

Ian: I am psyched with Ian Somerhalder getting the role of Ian. I think he is a great actor who has a decent range and this is a role that would fit him well. I can’t say he wouldn’t be a great Jared either, but since he’s (according to IMDB.com) been cast, i’m very excited to see what he can do.

Wanderer: Amber Heard.
I also thought Kristen Bell could be good in this role (and right now I’m mostly going by visual characteristics, not by any characters people have played before in movies or television. It’s a little unfair to say that because someone played this or that role on one show, they would not properly fit another one. The actor is not the characters they’ve played before.) but Amber looks younger and she has not been typecast into any certain kind of role.

Melanie: Missy Peregrym
would be amazing as Melanie. She definitely has the athletic build as well as the reslient look to her that fits the character well. And she’s younger, since Melanie is at most 21 throughout the novel. She’s gorgeous and kickass.

Jared:
He is so difficult to pick an actor for..and I think Paul Walker would be great. There are so many others it could be, I know a lot of people are like JENSEN ACKLES too. I think Paul fits the description, he’s in the age range, and another actor I respect.

Jamie:
Here’s another one where everyone likes one guy, Logan Lerman. He’s gonna be too old to play a 13/14 year old boy, though. And I really cannot stand the Disney channel type kids, and frankly I don’t believe the roles they’ve played give them any experience for serious acting. What about Freddie Highmore? Again, he could be too old, yet he seems like the kind of kid who can play younger roles.

Jeb: Mark Harmon
and a large factor of that is because he has the ability to be incredibly intimidating, which fits the leadership role Jeb possesses, but can peel it back and show a kind, witty, fatherly character. Personally, I tried to not picture the old prospector figure throughout the book (Like the guy from Disney’s Atlantis, anyone? I think his name was Cookie?) But slap a mustache and grizzly beard on Mark and I think we may have something.

Doc: Ioan Gruffudd.
At first, I wanted to say Jason Issacs, even though he’s famous for playing Mr. Malfoy, because of his role as the father in the remake of Peter Pan. I think he would be difficult for audiences to process as a person who should look like they wouldn’t hurt anyone. Ioan has a really trusting, knowledgeable appearance and that fits.

The Seeker:
This was again really difficult, but for a different reason than Jared, who I just really wanted to get right. Meredith Eaton would be a great choice to play her, and not just because she physically fits the role. Like the character’s own personality , she could bring the strength and ferocity into the role that it needs.

Kyle:
Once again, Kyle was hard to figure out too. One thing I don’t really appreciate in movies is casting people who look nothing alike as siblings. And if we have Ian as Ian (haha), then we just need a jacked version of him to play Kyle. Sort of Ian, Bear Version. I really wish Hugh Jackman were five or ten years younger because I think there is room for resemblance somewhere in there, with facial hair and simiar haircuts. I’m also really close to saying Rob Lowe but this isn’t just throw-every-hot-actor-ever-into-this-movie hour. Until I can find someone, I’m not going to settle. I’ll get back to Kyle. Mainly because I refuse to say Kellan Lutz (I like him but this isn’t Twilight, and he can’t just be the token strong guy.)
